Just curious as to how far everybody drives every day.
From my house to class and back, it's about a 30 mile round trip. From my house to work, it's right at 7 miles. That puts my daily total at 37 miles of driving.

28 miles round trip to work. All the way across the city
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:48 |

Just under 10 miles each way. For a bonus I'm heading out of the city and into the burbs in the morning and back in at night so I's going opposite the traffic each way.

To school and back 6 miles. I am self-employed so like 20 feet.

4.5 miles round trip by bicycle.

Not bad. I like the idea of biking to work, but the road where I work off of is too busy to ride safely.

It's 12.8 miles, round trip.
I'm gonna miss this short commute when I move out of my apartment in November.

That's a good deal. I'm the opposite of you. Heading towards the city for school from the suburbs. Traffic is a bitch.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:50 |

Used to be 35 miles one way. I have since moved, now it's less than a mile.

Hmmm
It's roughly 30kilometers round trip trough indonesian morning traffic, which took 2 hours. Back when i have a S600 i always praying to myself that please don't run out of fuel while sitting in traffic. You don't want to push a 2 ton of long wheelbase 4-door saloon right?
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:51 |

30-32 miles from home to work. So 60-64 miles per day depending on which way I take to or from work.
The longest distance-wise is the fastest, but is also dependent on traffic.

Three blocks.

From my bedroom to the kitchen, about thirty feet. I'm a stay-home-dad. My wife, however, drives about 30 miles round trip in some of the shittiest traffic Austin has to offer.

Ain't nothin.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:52 |

26 miles, both ways. Only about a 30 -45 minute drive, though.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:52 |

50 miles round trip. 25 to the office and 25 back home.
It only takes an hour on a not so good day.

Not bad. Mostly highway?

Mine is to my university so a lot of it has bike paths and very little traffic since it's in the middle of a city. I've had more close calls due to other cyclists being dumb than cars.

0.8 miles. I am guilty of driving every day.

interesting that I noted it this morning as being 17 miles on the way there and about 21 on the way back (take a different route for traffic reasons)

Yup, 65N through Indianapolis. Tons of construction, so that's why it varies from day to day.

6 miles int he car, could make it less if i ever ride the bike
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:55 |

My typical drive is like 15 miles a day to & from work. The short-distance trip is about 7.5 miles one way, but the short-time trip on the highway is just shy of 14 miles. The highway is about 5 minutes faster.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 11:55 |

Construction is the worst.

Back home, it was a ten mile trip to school, and three miles to work.
So 26 total miles of driving.

At my old job, 36 miles each way, on 55mph backroads.
With the new job, I'm an on-the-road salesman. So I book around 75 miles a day.

1.5 Miles each way. I usually bike unless I have to get dressed up or have to carry more than just my bag

80 round trip to work (today is my last day!) then 60 miles round trip to class
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:01 |

Just about 10 miles to work. The way back is about 11 miles, assuming I don't make a stop somewhere. Traffic is heavy and unpredictable though, so that can be a problem.
Certainly beats my old commutes though; one was 23 Miles one way, and the one before that was a bit over 50 miles one way. Never. Again.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:01 |

80 MILES??? Holy santa claus shit!
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:03 |

3.8mi each way for me. But I'm moving next month and the commute is going to increase to a whopping 6mi each way. Dang!
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:03 |

Yeah it sucks...
It was for an internship that is over today, but it will only take me about a half hour to get to class instead of 45-90 minutes to get to work...

Turn left out of driveway, drive at 60 for 8 miles on a smooth flat 2-lane road, turn left, turn right, done. 9 minutes twice a day
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:06 |

Same. But only in the summer. Fall, winter and spring I bike.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:06 |

30 miles one way to the office. We work in the field a lot, but if we're lucky we can reserve fleet cars. Flogged the company car up to Aguila a couple weeks ago during the flooding we had in rural az. 136 mile trip one way from the office, glad it wasn't my car.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:08 |

I almost had a head on collision with a cyclist the other day while I was out riding. I hate cyclists that ride in big speed packs.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:08 |

That's nothing! haha
As much as I love driving, I'm on a tight budget so driving 37+ miles a day is putting a hurt on my wallet.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:09 |
|
Well, that's a fair point. Though I'd want to save the gas for when I can properly rip through the gears.

Haha I beg to differ, sir!
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:10 |

![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:11 |

20km if I'm going straight home, probably closer to 30km if I pick up my wife, which I do most days.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:11 |

Round trip including dropping off kids at school in the morning is 27 miles. I often go elsewhere, so my actual daily driving is a lot more. But if I just do work and home, 27.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:11 |

Well, in here gas was like 2 bucks per gallon, so i can drive the S everyday.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:12 |

18 miles of free and clear highway each way to the dealership where my main office is located. If I have to travel to one of our other locations it's either 37 miles each way (highway), 57 miles (highway) each way, or 16 miles of ungodly terrible stop and go traffic the whole way. Luckily I usually only have to do the latter two once a month, and I drive company cars so I'm not concerned about racking up the miles.

I'd be living on ramen if I had to do 38mi/day in my car. I get like 14mpg city if I REALLY behave myself. If I don't it's more like 10. Maybe you should get a Volt!

Been doing it for 4 years now.
You become numb after a while especially when two days out of the week its well over 180 round trip with going to dc.
But in a month it will be 3 miles, I cant wait and nor can my Vic lol

48 Miles round trip. About 47 of them are highway. So commute time is about 27min going and 35min coming.
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:42 |

It has many other fine qualities =)
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:42 |

8.2 miles to work on surface streets then 9.9 miles home on the interstate so 18.1 total. It works out that dealing with the stoplights in the morning saves time over stop-go on the highway but that the extra 1.7 miles on the interstate is actually quicker on the return trip. Either way it's a bit over half an hour at an average speed of 20 mph.
Last place I lived my commute was 21 miles one way and took about 20 minutes. I miss that.

I had similar problems with GTA Vice City, I'd be on a mission, but would have to stop because Flock of Seagulls came on, and that's my throwback jam!
![]() 08/29/2014 at 12:45 |

It is 35 one way to my work then another 6 past that for my wife after she drops me off. The Carpool lane makes it mostly worth it.

When I lived in Detroit (metro) I drove from Ortonville to Allen Park every day. 55 miles from door to door then back. The fastest this trip was accomplished was on a GSX-R 750 on a Saturday morning. It happened in less than 45 minutes. Typical for morning traffic was about 60-70 minutes. One time it took 6 hours. (2010 blizzard)
![]() 08/29/2014 at 13:16 |

Yeah, one hour each way... After a while it really started to get to me. Nowadays my commute is either assholes driving 20 over the limit, or people in no hurry driving 10 under the limit... But at least it's short.

14-15 miles round trip
![]() 08/29/2014 at 14:40 |

I think my commute is about 5 miles each direction, but I recently moved closer to work.
The past 4 years I had about 20 miles each way. Mostly just boring straight highway, but no traffic.

20.4 miles each way, mostly on a toll road with very little traffic. I probably have the easiest commute in Austin.

0.3 miles to work if I bike, 0.5 if I drive. School is all online right now, so that's an even easier commute.
